Stargazer

The heavens transfix the stargazer
as he contemplates his place in the universe.
Is this an encounter with the infinite,
an awakening to purpose and destiny,
or merely cosmic dust in his eyes,
rendering him still as stone and
lifeless as a statue,
a surrendering of his will to a lifeless void?
