I step out into the cold silence
breathe white steam before me
a bull out of the barn
Feel the solid crunch of leather boots on fresh flakes
the crisp leaves breaking
as each leg swings and sinks deep
I survey my land and smile
Something refreshing about being buried
in snow

No My Pet
nor do I keep a dog

Fair Exchange
She pays me in coin /
small change she finds on the ground /
Good luck, you’ll need it

His head is spinning with the theory
Between each gig; all is lost.
A gaping hole of anxious self-pity
A drain where once a reservoir stood
His life is measured in monthly cycles
Of moon and Mr. J.P. Morgan
Where once he toiled to change the oceans
Now he moves to follow the flood
It rains with fury this dark Tuesday morning
He works alone in his cosmic man cave
Francis Francis stays red, hot and brewing

All we are is all we are
And the feeling will come again, wary, alive
This day shall flee, misty before the air
And I will seek the road back, wondering why

The Boggart
Mumbling while I putter, from the bed, to floor, darkness stumbles
My thoughts are grape jelly congealing to rubbery elasticity
I light my ear like a candle and sail through the opacity
The walking night, right next to me, hiding behind my head
Lurking around every corner and snoozing under the bed....

Show Me Your Tattoo
Say young lady with the soft plush eyes,
do you wear pink for comfort
or more for style? Does your hair
flow forever like a river,
a nature spring?

Sea Change
Draped in gray indifference
While white sparks gather
In edgy excited crowds
Marching in mob formation.
